The first time I met with Becca & Cody was at the Everest Tea & Coffee House. One of their parents had made their initial contact with me using Cody’s name as “Codith” as a joke. Joke was on me because I introduced myself followed by a, “You must be Codith!” to which Becca & Cody had a pretty good laugh as they explained goofy Dad. I knew we’d be a great fit from there. Later on in our conversation I learned that Cody works at Wizards of The Coast….a company I am all too familiar with! Clynn and I go to an event in Vegas every year dedicated to a card game managed by Wizards. Once they knew I was familiar with the company, they told me all about their Game inspired wedding cake. The front half to be formal and the back half….scroll and you’ll see! 😉 I came home and told Clynn he had to second shoot for this wedding.
I was so excited (and a little intimidated) by The Georgetown Ballroom in Seattle, Washington. I knew it would be my darkest venue yet. With urban brick walls, no windows, and a dark ceiling there was no where for my flash to bounce. Direct flash would be my only option for the majority of the celebrations. Luckily, The Georgetown Ballroom has a gorgeous private courtyard we used for a first look, detail, and family photos!
We started getting ready photos at a nearby hotel. As the bridesmaids (and bridesman!) made final preparations on their toasts, they cycled in an out of hair and makeup chairs. I love documenting the getting ready time before a wedding. It’s so peaceful, filled with excitement, support, and love. They toasted mimosas, had a last minute Starbucks breakfast, and headed down the street to the Georgetown Ballroom!
In the bridal suite, Becca was met by her family. Her Mom helped her into the dress and the Ballroom provided an impressive spread of cheese, fruit, and crackers. We met Cody for the first look in the courtyard as family watched from the balcony above. The ceremony was beautiful and Clynn killed it with the alternate angles during family portraits, the ceremony, and the first look!
The family photos were probably my favorite for Becca & Cody’s wedding! There were SO MANY to do but everyone was so happy and had a great time through the entire process! DJ Midnight Mike KILLED IT at the reception and won a place in SJP’s heart as a preferred vendor! Everyone had so much fun dancing and he even invited the flower girl to do some of the work!
One last thanks to Becca & Cody! They ordered a large genuine leather wedding album and I am so excited for it to arrive in the mail any day now! Keep an eye out on my Instagram Stories for a preview!
