Rattlesnake Lake Engagements

Nov

01

Julie and Michael’s Rattlesnake Lake Engagements were taken in North Bend, Washington. This photo location is entirely worth the trip Mid to late September though November and March through May. Because it is such a popular hiking trail and family destination, I do not recommend this location in Summer. There are so many people there having fun it can be hard to work around the crowds. In the dead of winter it is windy and very cold! Fall and Spring are the perfect months for beautiful clean backgrounds.

Julie and Michael met serving together in the Navy. They were friends for a long time before they started dating. I think that can make for such firm foundations in relationships! The fact Clynn and I spent the first six months of our relationship writing letters and talking on the phone helped in our long term commitment to each other so so much. I loved hearing their stories serving together and a little about the work they have in common.

Military relationships can be so hard but it’s great knowing your partner understands the unique work environment. They eloped in 2020/2021 and are planning a March 2022 celebration with friends and family! In the military, if you’re not married you can not be moved around together. Eloping is very common in military relationships for this reason as a long engagement can mean separation. I love photographing weddings after elopements for military couples. It can be easy to let the day with friends and family pass you by. I’m so happy they’ll have one!

The celebration is set to take place at Salish Lodge and Spa. This is a wedding venue I’ve had on my books many times, with other plans or state shut downs getting in the way. I’ve never actually had the privilege to shoot there yet! I’m so excited to finally shoot at Salish Lodge and Spa and with these two, I know it will be such a fun day!

I have one more engagement session in the works at this location taken a couple weeks later. It’s so cool how quickly environments change in the Pacific Northwest from the beginning to end of October. Fall photos can be so unpredictable! Luckily, both sessions had perfect clear weather.

Enjoy this fun set. Congratulations to Michael and Julie! I can’t wait to document your big day and share more photos soon!

A little family Wellman Update dump. Morning! I’ve struggled coming back in to write lately. I abandoned my last post in tears over the current state of The Studio. My camera bag was stolen about a year ago. Everything I’ve photographed in 2024 has been on rented equipment. Being abandoned with the children with zero […]

Early October I got to experience an adventurous and romantic Swiss Autumn with my long distance partner. We traveled deep into the Swiss mountains, ate all the yummy food, met old friends, went to a dance party, made some new friends, enjoyed a private sauna with an impressive view, took naps, snuggled, and went on […]

We have to get a little creative here with our PNW Photojournalism. One of the first things you learn as a new natural light photographer is how incredible a big window can make any room look. A tiny corner in the most unassuming place, if sitting close to a window can produce the most magical […]

Tonight, I took the boys to the Everett Haunted Harbor community event! Everyone putting it on was so sweet and we all had a blast! Thank you to all the boat volunteers! We started with trick or treating at the boats, watching witches paddle board around the harbor, petting all the neighbor dogs, and watched […]
