Ruston Chapel

Bedelia and John were married at the Ruston Chapel in Tacoma, Washington on Saturday November 16, 2019!

Last time I photographed a wedding at The Ruston Chapel was in 2016. When I saw Bedelia and John had booked it for their wedding I knew we were a perfect fit. The Ruston Chapel is such a bright and homey location for an intimate wedding.

The bridal suite is so cozy. It’s comforting and honestly reminds me of when I used to visit my grandma when I was little. There are old photos from previous couples sprinkled throughout the bridal suite. Old pink furniture and a classic vanity for the bride just make you feel like you’re in someone’s home. It’s soothing.

My favorite part about this venue is the ivy wall and terrace hidden on a private deck off the bridal suite. This spot makes for the perfect photo location hidden from arriving guests and the main road. It’s totally private!

Bedelia and John TOOK THE CAKE on personal wedding vows. I have heard some beautiful vows as a wedding photographer. I have cried at probably 50 different sets of personal vows. However, Bedelia and John? Gosh. They should be writers. You’ve heard the phrase, “Not a dry eye in the room”? That’s an understatement for what these two wrote. BOTH OF THEM. You could literally hear several people sobbing and catching their breath. The love these two have for each other, and the words they have to express it, is out of this world. I am so honored to have witnessed the mere fact that they found one another. ♥

After the wedding at The Ruston Chapel, we went to an intimate reception room at The Four Points by Sheratin in Des Moines, Washington. I was so excited when we were able to take a few moments to do couples photos around the hotel.

A little family Wellman Update dump. Morning! I’ve struggled coming back in to write lately. I abandoned my last post in tears over the current state of The Studio. My camera bag was stolen about a year ago. Everything I’ve photographed in 2024 has been on rented equipment. Being abandoned with the children with zero […]

Early October I got to experience an adventurous and romantic Swiss Autumn with my long distance partner. We traveled deep into the Swiss mountains, ate all the yummy food, met old friends, went to a dance party, made some new friends, enjoyed a private sauna with an impressive view, took naps, snuggled, and went on […]

We have to get a little creative here with our PNW Photojournalism. One of the first things you learn as a new natural light photographer is how incredible a big window can make any room look. A tiny corner in the most unassuming place, if sitting close to a window can produce the most magical […]

Tonight, I took the boys to the Everett Haunted Harbor community event! Everyone putting it on was so sweet and we all had a blast! Thank you to all the boat volunteers! We started with trick or treating at the boats, watching witches paddle board around the harbor, petting all the neighbor dogs, and watched […]
