They’re back!!! I was so excited when Sarah & Drew contacted me to take their Des Moines family photos in the same location we had documented their engagement photos years prior. View their engagement session HERE! Saltwater State Park is such a fun one to work at. We really have to watch that tide or there is NO beach though. Have had that happen a couple times.

They now have the cutest little kiddos and they are exactly how I would have imagined Sarah & Drew’s children to be. Little adventurers! Their daughter wanted to climb climb climb everything she saw like her hiking Mom and Dad. I am confident she has many fun family hikes and climbs in her future!

It was fun to see the kiddos warm up to having their photos taken. So shy at first and giggling away like I’m not even there by the end. I love seeing that transition during family photos within an hour! It’s so fun and surprisingly reliable.

I love photographing families with little kids because the window of tolerance for the activity sets a timer that keeps us productive and focused and finishing in a very comfortable amount of time. I love engagement sessions, too, but when I have a couple who is SLAYING in front of the camera, it is easy to get caught up longer than intended. Little ones let us know when they are DONE. These two did SO WELL, though!

Thank you so much for reaching out, Sarah and Drew. It’s always a pleasure working with you and I hope to see you all again on another visit, soon! Congratulations on your BEAUTIFUL family!

A little family Wellman Update dump. Morning! I’ve struggled coming back in to write lately. I abandoned my last post in tears over the current state of The Studio. My camera bag was stolen about a year ago. Everything I’ve photographed in 2024 has been on rented equipment. Being abandoned with the children with zero […]

Early October I got to experience an adventurous and romantic Swiss Autumn with my long distance partner. We traveled deep into the Swiss mountains, ate all the yummy food, met old friends, went to a dance party, made some new friends, enjoyed a private sauna with an impressive view, took naps, snuggled, and went on […]

We have to get a little creative here with our PNW Photojournalism. One of the first things you learn as a new natural light photographer is how incredible a big window can make any room look. A tiny corner in the most unassuming place, if sitting close to a window can produce the most magical […]

Tonight, I took the boys to the Everett Haunted Harbor community event! Everyone putting it on was so sweet and we all had a blast! Thank you to all the boat volunteers! We started with trick or treating at the boats, watching witches paddle board around the harbor, petting all the neighbor dogs, and watched […]
