Jill and Shawn’s wedding was the first one I photographed at Lake Union Cafè in Seattle!
I don’t do this often anymore, but the first time I met Jill and Shawn was on their wedding day at the venue! Up until the wedding, I had only communicated with Jill’s Mother. Sometimes, couples from out of state or last minute weddings/bookings require this sort of an arrangement.
Luckily, we got along right away. Jill and Shawn were so so kind and observant throughout the wedding and delivery process. These two were surly brought together by big external forces. ♥ I loved every toast, every dance, every group photo. I would shoot this wedding a million times over!
About 80% of this wedding was shot using off camera flash. I love weddings where I can flex that flash muscle!
If I were to do another “favorite wedding venues” post, Lake Union Cafè would surly make the list. This is an old speakeasy/restaurant converted into a wedding venue. The bridal suite is through the kitchen and down a back staircase. I can only imagine the rebellious parties that went on down there in the 1920’s!
The venue is on the smaller side. Accommodating 200-275 Maximum, it’s a cozy venue for sure! However, for weddings, I like a tight fit! This makes the dance floor feel more full and keeps all your loved ones close for an intimate wedding and party.
I’m definitely hoping to shoot at The Lake Union Cafè again, soon!
Congratulations and THANK YOU to Jill, Shawn, and Jill’s mom, Janice, for being so amazing to work with and choosing the studio to document your wedding day!
