Olympia Backyard Wedding

Where to start with Rose and Joshiah’s Olympia Backyard wedding?! There were so many amazing vendors and their family and family friends came together to help in big ways!

The wedding was held at Rose’s Father’s home. He spent ages preparing the yard to be perfect all the way down to a custom built ceremony stage.

Backyard weddings have such an intimate feel to them. There’s just something about someone opening up their home to their closest friend’s and family that draws people together unlike any venue.

The yard was large enough to have a ceremony space separate from the reception area. We even had privacy to head down a trail to a little apple orchard type setting for their sunset formal session!

Oh, the doughnuts. If there’s one thing people know about Josiah, it’s his passion for doughnuts. He’s military for now, but I hope to be a customer at his very own doughnut shop some day. They opted for a doughnut tower by Simply & Delicious instead of a cake. For the bachelor party, he had to take all the guys to hit an item on his bucket list. Voodoo in Portland!

Josiah was Rose’s very first Tinder date!!! How amazing is that?! I’d say at least 50% of the couples I photograph met on a dating or group meet up app or service. Don’t count it out, guys! I hear success stories every month. ♥

I only put a couple here in the blog post, but the collection of images of all the bridesmaids taking a turn swigging out of a Patron bottle are some of my favorite pre-ceremony images ever. These bridesmaids were sorority sisters in college. It showed! They had such a blast together.

The wedding was catered by Oly Smokers and I just have to give them an extra special shout out because this food was AMAZING. So good. Best southern comfort food around.

A few more vendors to note:

Dress: White Magnolia

Tent Rental: American Party Place

DJ: Olympia Sound Company

CONGRATULATIONS to Rose & Josiah!! Josiah’s back to work in Florida and Rose is settling into her new teaching position. Wishing you two the best first year of marriage ever on the other side of the country!
